Dear Mayor, Freiling, Vice Mayor Pons, Council Members Ramsey, Zhang, Maslin and City Manager Trivette;
I am writing you on behalf of the City of Williamsburg Professional Fire Fighters, Paramedics and 911 Dispatchers. Last month this body voted unanimously to endorse the addition of a second fire station to better serve the citizens and visitors of the City of Williamsburg.
The unanimous decision was based on the following:
Our call numbers increase year after year putting a strain on just one station.
With the ever-increasing population our response times with be negatively impacted. Risking lives and property.
Additional flexibility regarding staffing and apparatus placement.
A backup if a natural or man-made disaster impacts one of our fire stations.
Provides a fully operational fire station for future renovations.
While these are only a few of the reasons we fully support the addition of a much-needed fire station. Should you have any question or need additional information. We stand ready to assist.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Warm Regards
Don

The IAFF is urging Congress to pass stimulus funding for state and local governments. This critical funding will help keep fire fighters on the job as they continue to protect their community from COVID-19 Pandemic.

The IAFF has been working with members of Congress and staff since the beginning of the pandemic to make sure fire fighters and fire fighter issues are a priority on Capitol Hill.
